a modest proposal: fox/onion

 PROPOSED:  that, due to a complete and utter neglect of journalistic standards, such neglect reaching points of absurdity and humor previously reached only intentionally by the fictional newscasters collectively known as “the onion,” the comedy central spoof “the colbert report” and, from time to time, the ”weekend update” portion of the long running nbc program “saturday night live;”

that, due to a broadcast agenda of regurgitating administration (republican) talking points that most resembles that of an official state publication such as pravda or izvestia in the mid to late 20th century soviet union;

that, due to hiring possibly illiterate, but unusually photogenic on air talent, and relying often on expert commenting by disgraced former members from various political, military and governmental capacities;

that, in multiple and repeated, completely disingenuous assertions to balance and fairness, multiple and repeated episodes of pandering and exploitation of divisive and salacious materials, and multiple and repeated instances of allowing journalistic standards to fall well below that of the typical junior high school weekly newspaper;

MAY WE AGREE AND FURTHER RESOLVE:  that the cable broadcast network known as ”fox news” shall henceforth and for all times to come be referred to as “fox/onion.”
