oh no ba ma

when i walked into the voting booth for the dem primary there was no way i couldn’t vote for Obama. it was the first time I ever had a chance to vote for someone of my generation, who seemed like a decent man.
as the days go by, he seems to say more things that will appeal to those less initially sympathetic, as any good politician will. and it has, if not sickened me, at least tempered my enthusiasm.
the good news, it appears that there are people who are advising him in a way that may make his presidential campaign more successful than Al Gore’s.
other good news, if it works we’ll have a president who can successfully string together sentences of four or more polysyllabic words, and perhaps we won’t be the laughing stock of the world.
more good news, with a democratic congress, perhaps our elected officials will be able to right the course of history and restore some dignity to our federal government.
perhaps the downward slide will come to a halt and human rights and the constitution will mean something again.
the bad news – that we will still be electing politicians in november – and that is always dangerous…
